Hero MotoCorp & Harley-Davidson Gear Up for More Small-Displacement Bikes

Hero MotoCorp & Harley-Davidson are gearing up for more small-displacement motorcycles, thanks to the success of the X440!

For decades, Harley-Davidson was known for big, powerful bikes that roar down the highways. But let’s be real, those bikes aren’t the most practical for riders in the Philippines, who often deal with city traffic, tight streets, and rising fuel costs. That’s where Harley’s partnership with Hero MotoCorp comes in.

Hero MotoCorp, one of the world's largest motorcycle manufacturers by volume, in collaboration with Harley-Davidson, is setting the stage once again for smaller displacement and more affordable Harley bikes.

In 2023, the duo launched the Harley-Davidson X440, an air-oil-cooled 440cc single-cylinder roadster built for everyday use. Priced at Rs 229,000 (around P160,000), it gave countless riders their first chance to own a Harley without draining their wallets.

Now, Hero MotoCorp has confirmed that a new Harley based on the 440 will debut before the end of September. While details are still under wraps, riders can expect something exciting. Maybe a sporty street bike, a retro roadster to rival Royal Enfield, or even a small cruiser for longer rides? Who knows!

But the big question remains, will it stay India-only, or go global? A competitively priced 440 Harley could make waves in the Philippines, where bikes like the KTM Duke 390, Husqvarna 401s, and Royal Enfield’s 450s already have strong followings. If it lands here, it could attract a new generation of entry-level riders.

One thing’s certain: Harley and Hero are changing the game. Affordable bikes no longer need to be bland commuters. Soon, riders everywhere could enjoy machines with real character, presence, and Harley heritage, without breaking the bank.
