The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driver’s license of a rider caught on a viral video performing dangerous stunts on a public road.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II confirmed that they have already gathered enough information to issue a show cause order to the registered owner of the motorcycle.
“We are yet to determine if the owner was the one who was doing the motorcycle stunt. But whether or not he was the one in the video, he has to explain why his motorcycle has no license plate,” said Asec. Mendoza.
The video showed a rider on a beige Honda motorcycle without a license plate, doing stunts, dancing, and committing other reckless acts on a public road.
“There is a proper place for this and certainly, public roads are not included,” Mendoza added.
According to the LTO, the rider may face charges of Reckless Driving and being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, which could lead to the maximum penalty of license revocation.
Meanwhile, the registered owner is charged with Failure to Attach Motor Vehicle License Plate.
The show cause order, signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante, also placed the motorcycle under alarm. The registered owner has been directed to appear before the LTO Central Office on September 9 and submit a written explanation.
“Failure to appear and submit the verified or sworn comment/explanation as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your rights to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand.” The SCO further warned.
If the rider is confirmed, the LTO will impose a 90-day preventive suspension.
